Fear of losing federal databases filled with decades of scientific research has sparked “data rescue” events over the past few weeks. ����Ӱҵevents consist of science professionals searching and pulling data before it could be lost forever from government servers.

����Ӱҵrescue efforts are the result of the Trump administration’s proposal to make budget cuts for agencies including the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the Environmental Protection Agency.

����Ӱҵ University’s Anne Jefferson, Ph.D., geology professor in the College of Arts and Sciences, took to Twitter to express her concerns about potential effects on the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI).

“We’ll probably be saying goodbye to much of the invaluable data housed at the NCEI,” Jefferson wrote. “Hope it gets rescued in time.”
