精东影业School of Music is going to be filled with wonderful music all month long. Check out the concerts and events happening in March.
On March 3 at 3 p.m. in Cartwright Auditorium, 精东影业KSU Orchestra will perform with student concerto winners. In the 2023-2024 academic year, the KSU Orchestra will explore the orchestra as a living, breathing, organism 鈥 a source of tradition and innovation that connects us with hundreds of years of ongoing musical creativity. Aether Eos will be performing in Ludwig Hall on March 4 at 7:30 p.m.. Established in 2017, Aether Eos is a duo project featuring violinist, composer, and visual artist Leah Asher and pianist and composer Christopher Goddard. Aether Eos has been presented by Codes d鈥檃cc猫s (Montreal), Constellation (Chicago) and MISE EN_PLACE (New York). They have been guests at the Montreal Contemporary Music Lab, Ball State University, Western Michigan University, College of the Ozarks, and Western Illinois University. 精东影业duo has premiered works by Chin Ting Chan, Pang Chun-ting, and Luke Carlson, and performed Eric Wubbels鈥檚 "the children of fire come looking for fire" extensively across North America. As part of its mission to explore the intersection of composition, performance practice and improvisation, Aether Eos has presented workshops on topics such as creative collaboration and graphic score notation. This concert is free and open to the public.
Join us on March 5 at 7:30 p.m. in Cartwright Auditorium for the Wind Ensemble/Symphony Band Concert. 精东影业concert will feature Bobby Selvaggio and the faculty jazz quartet. 精东影业Wind Ensemble is an ensemble of the university's finest wind and percussion musicians, the group performs traditional and contemporary wind repertoire of the highest quality. 精东影业Symphony Band is an auditioned ensemble of student musicians from across campus regardless of major who have demonstrated an outstanding level of musicianship and commitment to musical excellence. 精东影业精东影业 Opera Theatre presents " 精东影业WKSO Radio Hour." 精东影业spring opera concert will be in Ludwig Recital Hall on March 8 and 9 at 7:30 p.m. along with a matinee performance on March 10 at 2 p.m.. " 精东影业WKSO Radio Hour,鈥 will be reminiscent of radio programs of the mid-20th century. "Gian-Carlo Menotti's ' 精东影业Old Maid and the Thief' originally premiered on NBC Radio in 1939. In addition to being fully staged, the program will also incorporate a 'chorus of the airways' who will sing commercial jingles throughout and provide sound effects. 精东影业opera repertoire includes three one-acts: Gian-Carlo Menotti's " 精东影业Old Maid and the Thief," and Seymour Barab's "Passion in the Principal's Office" and " 精东影业Ruined Maid." Tickets are available through the Performing Box Office.
No Exit will be performing on March 15 at 5:30 p.m. in Ludwig Recital Hall. No Exit鈥檚 2023-2024 season will encompass a wide variety of artistic mediums to present an immersive multidisciplinary exploration of Surrealism as expressed in music, art, film, poetry, literature and performance art. This concert is free and open to the public. Since its inception, No Exit has served as an outlet for the commission and performance of contemporary avant-garde concert music. Now in its 15th season and with well over 300 commissions to date, No Exit has strived to create exciting, meaningful and thought-provoking programs. This concert is free and open to the public.
精东影业精东影业 New Music Ensemble performs on March 16 at 7:30 p.m. in Ludwig Recital Hall. 精东影业New Music Ensemble is dedicated to performing the most exciting and relevant music of our time. Comprised of 精东影业 students, the New Music Ensemble performs unique programs that feature music by diverse composers from around the world. Tickets are available through the Performing Box Office.
Join us on March 16 at 7:30 p.m. in Cartwright Auditorium for the 精东影业 Youth Winds Concert. This group is a high school auditioned wind ensemble that rehearses at 精东影业 University. Our March concert, entitled "Dance, " will feature dance music throughout history. Our music will include "Incantation and Dance," composed by John Barnes Chance, "Juba Dance," composed by Florence Price, and music from " 精东影业Wiz." 精东影业youth winds will be joined by saxophonist Dr. Matthew Younglove, who will perform a concerto, Three Conversations with Matisse. Dr. Younglove serves on the faculty of Tennessee Technological University as Assistant Professor of Saxophone. Tickets are available through the Performing Box Office.
On March 17 at 5 p.m. in Ludwig Recital Hall, faculty artist, Donna Lee, will be joining us for the fourth concert of 精东影业Kent Keyboard Series. HEAR HER ROAR: a chamber music concert featuring works by women composers, Clara Schumann, Germaine Tailleferre and Amanda Harberg. Performers include faculty artist, Donna Lee, pianist and guest artists Kiarra Saito-Beckman, Violin, Anna Kuo, Cello and Daniel Gilbert, Clarinet.
