As the May 4 Task Force celebrates its golden anniversary this year, chair Sophie Swengel is proud to once again preserve the memory of May 4, 1970, and the people who were lost and injured that day.

Meet Camille, Malina, Hayden, Matthew and Timmy, five graduating seniors from across the College of Communication and Information who work for ����Ӱҵ University’s Division of University Communications and Marketing. These students have been gaining more than just hands-on experience; they are helping shape the university’s story.  

A group of Emerson College students in Boston, who are enrolled in Gregory Payne’s course about the ����Ӱҵ and Jackson State tragedies will visit ����Ӱҵ on May 2-4, when the university holds its annual commemoration.

Hundreds packed Crawford Hall Friday night to see the best in fashion in support of the ����Ӱҵ School of Fashion's Annual Awards Fashion Show. 

If you look into the stands of the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center during a ����Ӱҵ women's basketball game, you’ll find a mother-daughter pair of students from Brazil cheering with all their might. Five thousand miles from home, Hetty and Fernanda have found new activities and friends in the United States.

Meet Aislinn Foran, a senior communication studies major with a focus in applied communication and a minor in public relations from Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania. With a heavy involvement in the Her Campus at ����Ӱҵ University (HCKSU) chapter, Foran contributed to creating a welcoming environment for all members. 

����ӰҵIntegration Bee, presented by  ����Ӱҵ's Department of Mathematical Sciences, invited students to enjoy fun math-themed competitions and activities along with fun costumes, pizza and math-oriented jokes and puns.

From mornings at Tree City Coffee to late nights at Barflyy, ����Ӱҵ’s community has plenty of food and entertainment options thanks to the help of Main Street Kent, now a Nationally Accredited Main Street program for 2024.

����Ӱҵ University President Todd Diacon was among the people who attended  the semi-annual report presentation by the student organization Golden Flash Asset Management in Crawford Hall. Students in this group learn about investing by managing a real portfolio, gaining valuable career experience.

Meet Lance Delisle, a junior aeronautical studies major with an aviation law and policy minor from Woodstock, Georgia, who balances his studies with his responsibilities as an Air Force reservist.

Ivory Kendrick, the newly elected president of the University Student Government, spoke his destiny into existence last year when he set his sights on leading the organization. Now, Kendrick is ready to hit the ground running.

During move-out, students sometimes trash clothes and boxes of food. Throw ‘N’ Go, ����Ӱҵ University's annual move-out program, is currently underway to keep those useable items out of landfills and in the hands of people who need them.

Every April, ����Ӱҵ University celebrates Earth Month by having Earth-related events all month long. April 22, 2025, is the 55th anniversary of Earth Day, with this year’s theme being “Our Power, Our Planet.”

Thrifting has become increasingly popular among college students thanks to its affordability, sustainability and trendy fashion options. As most college students’ budgets are tight, thrift stores can offer high-quality clothing and accessories at a fraction of the cost of new items. Luckily, ����Ӱҵ students has a plethora of thrift spots on and near campus.

Meet Caitlyn Lincoln, a senior psychology major and a member of the Honors College from Worthington, Pennsylvania, with a proven passion for leadership, patient care and altruism – even in her hobbies.

Research Writing Retreats, sponsored by ����Ӱҵ University’s Graduate College, offer a distraction-free environment for graduate students to work on their research and writing projects. While “giving them permission” to put other aspects of life aside and focus on their writing, the retreats also create a supportive community that enhances productivity while also offering welcome accountability from their peers. 

As part of ����Ӱҵ University’s Student Employee Appreciation Week, Career Exploration and Development proudly announces recipients of the 2025 Student Employee and Supervisor Awards. These annual honors recognize outstanding individuals who exemplify excellence in their roles across campus, demonstrating initiative, leadership, inclusivity and an enduring commitment to community.

For the fifth consecutive year, the Division of Student Life at ����Ӱҵ University has been recognized as one of the Most Promising Places to Work in Student Affairs by the American College Personnel Association (ACPA) - College Student Educators International and Diverse: Issues in Higher Education.

Summer camps for kids interested in architecture don’t come along often – at least that’s what Elise Bolton’s mother discovered when she searched for one. But then, not a whole lot of 11-year-olds may dream of becoming architects. But that was the case for Bolton, a sophomore in ����Ӱҵ University’s College of Architecture and Environmental Design, who knew from when she was a young child that she wanted to be an architect.
