����Ӱҵaccomplishments of the Fall Class of 2025 will be recognized with commencement ceremonies at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Dec. 13.

In 2022, the first "In A Flash" was posted on ����Ӱҵ Today. Since then, there have been 599 more "In A Flashes," each offering a glimpse of life at ����Ӱҵ.

Throughout November, alumni, friends, faculty and staff were encouraged to find the cause that speaks to them and share their reason for giving. From Nov. 1 through Giving Tuesday (Dec. 2), the 2025 campaign raised more than $4.5 million for causes ranging from food sustainability and the environment to athletics and basic needs to education. ����Ӱҵtotal raised included $2.87 million from legacy gifts and endowments, $150,000 from the ����Ӱҵ University Foundation matching gifts and $1.56 million from outright gifts and matches.

A new recognition program launched by the Portage County Emergency Management Agency spotlights organizations demonstrating exceptional commitment to emergency management, readiness and community safety. ����Ӱҵ University has been named the inaugural honoree of the Portage Preparedness Initiative

Tracy M. Dodson, Ph.D., MSN, RN, CEN, associate professor at the College of Nursing, is committed to helping students succeed through compassion and innovative teaching techniques. These techniques, accompanied by a passion for education, have been recognized with the Glenn Frank Distinguished Teaching Award.

Tina Patel, associate professor of interior design, thinks students should have confidence, creativity and commitment in their design work. Her philosophy in the classroom has led her to be awarded the Glenn Frank Distinguished Teaching Award.

Leveto's philosophy of teaching is that it requires compassion, understanding and patience. When mastered, it can create a transformative experience for students. This approach to education helped Leveto earn the 2025 Glenn Frank Distinguished Teaching Award.  

Education is a process that goes beyond studying and memorizing, according to James Redfearn, Ph.D., assistant professor of biological sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences at ����Ӱҵ University. Redfearn's attitude, approach and creation of this supporting space led him to be awarded the Glenn Frank Distinguished Teaching Award.

����Ӱҵ����Ӱҵ University Board of Trustees will hold its next regular business meeting at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11, in the Urban Conference Room, Library, second floor, on the Kent Campus. ����ӰҵBoard will consider the recommendations of the standing committees, proposed personnel actions, and new business. Trustees will retire into executive session to consider specific topics as provided under Ohio’s “Sunshine Law.”

����ӰҵCollege of Aeronautics and Engineering hosted the 2025 National Intercollegiate Flying Association (NIFA) SAFECON Region III competition Oct. 19–24 at the ����Ӱҵ University Airport in Stow, Ohio. ����Ӱҵweek-long event brought together collegiate aviators from across the region for a flight and ground competition focused on precision, safety, and professionalism.

����Ӱҵnew suite includes six online certificate programs that align with the cannabis industry’s most in-demand job sectors, creating a clear, credible path for students to enter the industry.

����Ӱҵ University observes Thanksgiving Break from Nov. 26 through Nov. 30. 

Bruno Ast, the architect who designed the university's May 4 Memorial, has died at age 88. Ast won a national competition to design the memorial in 1986. In his , it was said that he was especially proud to have been chosen as architect for the project.

Area police agencies will conduct joint training exercises from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 18, at the Business and Administration Building along Summit Street on the Kent Campus.

����Ӱҵ����Ӱҵ University Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting at 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 10. ����Ӱҵsole purpose of the special meeting is to consider a proposed collective bargaining agreement between ����Ӱҵ and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), ����Ӱҵ University Employees Local 153.

����Ӱҵ University will be closed Tuesday, Nov. 11, in observance of the Veterans Day holiday. No classes are scheduled, and university offices are closed.

American Academy student Alexandre Andrade, who is majoring in marketing and entrepreneurship at the Ambassador Crawford College of Business and Entrepreneurship, has learned to embrace cultural differences during his international journey to Ohio.

����Ӱҵ University holds its annual Veterans Day Commemoration at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 10, at the Student Green on the Kent Campus. All are invited to attend and pay tribute to those who have served in the U.S. armed forces.

For 2025-2026, the Kent Campus has continued the highest recognition of a Gold ranking for the second consecutive year. In addition, ����Ӱҵ’s Collegiate Purple Star designation, first presented to the university in 2022 for its support for veteran and military students, has also been renewed for three years. 

This year’s speaker for ����Ӱҵ University’s Bowman Breakfast was the embodiment of the symbiotic relationship between the university and the city of Kent that is celebrated at the annual event.
