Eliminating an Eyesore: Architecture Students Give City of Warren Ideas for Redevelopment

Students from ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ University’s College of Architecture and Environmental Design recently presented the city of Warren with a variety of plans for how the site of the town’s former St. Joseph Hospital can be reused.

¾«¶«Ó°Òµold hospital has been vacant for many years, becoming an eyesore and a haven for vagrants and criminal activity in this Trumbull County city.

Warren is in the process of demolishing the structure and is looking for ways to redevelop the site.

A dozen students from associate professor Bill Willoughby’s course on site design spent the semester crafting ideas for the hospital property's redevelopment. They presented them to Warren officials this week.

¾«¶«Ó°Òµeffort recently was the subject of a detailed story by WKBN-TV Channel 27 of Youngstown, which showcased the students’ efforts. View the news coverage here on .
