Becoming a ����Ӱҵ University Golden Flash means the best deal for your dollars.

Tuition is a major factor for prospective students deciding whether to go to college and if so, which colleges and universities to apply to that they can afford. A new study by  has gathered the latest data and looks at college affordability, providing a useful resource for prospective students and their parents.

In its  analysis of more than 700 four-year colleges, Money ranked ����Ӱҵ as the most affordable college in Ohio. ����Ӱҵ comes in at $20,100 for its estimated tuition price including average grant money, the lowest among the 24 Ohio colleges and universities studied by Money. ����Ӱҵ is committed to creating affordable education for its students and providing access for all.

“����Ӱҵ has made an intentional effort to create a high-quality experience while being named the most affordable college in Ohio, and it is great to have the recognition in this year’s 2024 Best Colleges survey,” said Sean Broghammer, Ph.D., ����Ӱҵ’s vice president for enrollment management. “����Ӱҵ remains committed to our access mission by providing competitive merit and need-based scholarships that help students pursue their educational goals while controlling costs.” 

����Ӱҵ helps keep college affordable in many ways. ����Ӱҵ awards more than $415 million in financial aid annually, and 96% of first-year students receive financial aid assistance. ����Ӱҵ����Ӱҵ Board of Trustees approves tuition, room and meal plan rates under the Tuition Guarantee Model, which is designed to provide students and their families a predictable and stable model for planning for the cost of a college degree. It provides eligible new undergraduates – including new first-year students and new transfer students – and their families the certainty that resident tuition, room and meal plan charges will not increase during the ensuing four academic years from their first enrollment as degree-seeking students.

“We at ����Ӱҵ want to see every student graduate,” Broghammer said. “We offer academic, financial and personal support at every point along a student’s journey to graduation. It’s important to keep the ����Ӱҵ experience affordable for students.”

First-year students coming to ����Ӱҵ – both from Ohio and from outside Ohio – are automatically considered for various merit scholarships. Additionally, newly admitted and returning ����Ӱҵ students can explore additional ����Ӱҵ and external scholarship opportunities through ScholarshipUniverse. In-state students may also be eligible for the Flashes Go Further Scholarship Program, a one-of-a-kind program covering more costs to help students attend ����Ӱҵ tuition-free.

����Ӱҵ provides information about tuition amounts as well as scholarship and financial aid opportunities for prospective students to calculate the cost of attendance at www.kent.edu/admissions/cost-aid. In addition, the university offers more than 8,000 on-campus jobs and an in-state discount for graduate programs.
