Minors in Communication & Information

¾«¶«Ó°ÒµCollege of Communication and Information offers 15 minors, most of which are open to all ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ University students.

Media, design, technology, communication and information skills can enhance any major or career path, from business management to fashion design. And for students within the College of Communication and Information, adding a minor in a complementary CCI discipline can open up even more doors.

  • ¾«¶«Ó°ÒµApplied Data and Information minor expands on the tools you gain in your major, complementing fields such as digital humanities, fashion, media, social sciences, design and technology.

  • ¾«¶«Ó°ÒµBroadcast Engineering Technology minor provides students the fundamental skills to pursue jobs in broadcast engineering in emerging media and related fields. 

  • This minor is for students studying either fashion merchandising or media and journalism.

¾«¶«Ó°ÒµAdvertising minor provides students with an overview of the different roles advertising plays in society. 

 

Communication Studies Minor

¾«¶«Ó°ÒµCommunication Studies minor allows students to improve their speaking abilities as well as their listening, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

 

Design Minor

¾«¶«Ó°ÒµDesign minor provides students with grounding in the fundamental elements of graphic design, including design research and history, graphic software, industry standards and professional ethics.

Digital Media Production Minor

¾«¶«Ó°ÒµDigital Media Production minor teaches the basics of both audio and video production in either a studio or field setting.

 

Information Design Minor

¾«¶«Ó°ÒµInformation Design minor offers students a basic understanding of visual communication tools, theory and ethics.

Journalism Minor

 With a grounding in ethics and an understanding of media’s role in democratic society, students learn the value of critical thinking, information gathering and the ability to make sense of it for others.

Photography Minor

¾«¶«Ó°ÒµPhotography minor offers students a basic understanding of photography as it relates to commercial use. 

Photojournalism Minor

¾«¶«Ó°ÒµPhotojournalism minor teaches basic visual storytelling and photojournalism.

Public Relations Minor

¾«¶«Ó°ÒµPublic Relations minor teaches the writing, case study and publications elements of the public relations business, as well as online, digital and social media strategies.
