Denise A. Seachrist, Ph.D., of Rootstown, Ohio, has been selected to serve as dean and chief administrative officer of ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ University at Stark, located in North Canton, Ohio. Seachrist has served as interim dean of ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Stark, the only public university in Stark County and the largest Regional Campus of ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ, since July 1, 2014. She began serving as the permanent dean on Feb. 1, 2016.
¾«¶«Ó°Òµ University is introducing a Cooperative Education program for students of all majors at all ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ campuses.
¾«¶«Ó°Òµ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ University Women’s Center in the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will celebrate its 20th anniversary during the 2016-17 school year. ¾«¶«Ó°ÒµWomen’s Center, formerly called the Women’s Resource Center, was established in 1996 following a recommendation from a university stakeholder committee to former ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ President Carol A. Cartwright.

¾«¶«Ó°Òµ10th annual Main Street Kent Art and Wine Festival will take place Saturday, June 4, from noon-10 p.m. in downtown Kent. Proceeds will benefit Main Street Kent, the nonprofit organization dedicated to the revitalization of downtown Kent. ¾«¶«Ó°ÒµArt and Wine Festival features local artists, live entertainment and wineries from all over Ohio.

Since 2008, Jill Lahrmer, assistant professor in ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ University’s College of Architecture and Environmental Design, has consistently shared her passion for interior design with her students.

¾«¶«Ó°Òµ University held its 14th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration on Jan. 28 in the Kent Student Center Ballroom. ¾«¶«Ó°Òµkeynote speaker for the event was Joy-Ann Reid, national correspondent for MSNBC. ¾«¶«Ó°Òµcommemorative event also recognized the 2016 recipients of ¾«¶«Ó°Òµâ€™s Diversity Trailblazer Award, which honors diversity pioneers associated with ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ, and Unity Award for Diversity, which recognizes the contributions of any ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ unit that demonstrates significant contributions in the areas of diversity, equity, and/or inclusion.
¾«¶«Ó°Òµ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ University Board of Trustees today established a comprehensive, national search to recruit and select the university’s 13th president.
¾«¶«Ó°Òµevents of May 4, 1970, placed ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ University in an international spotlight after a student protest against the Vietnam War and the presence of the Ohio National Guard ended in tragedy with four students losing their lives and nine others being wounded. From a perspective of nearly 50 years, ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ remembers the tragedy and leads a contemporary discussion and understanding of how the community, nation and world can benefit from understanding the profound impact of the event.
