����Ӱҵstate of Ohio and the Ohio Department of Higher Education announced that ����Ӱҵ University has been awarded Choose Ohio First grants totaling $3.5 million to support students in the critical fields of science (including health professions), technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

Similar to graduating students who become alumni, retired ����Ӱҵ University faculty and staff wish to stay connected to the university. These employees care about the institution and the ����Ӱҵ community, and they want to see it thrive. One way retired ����Ӱҵ community members stay informed is through the ����Ӱҵ University Retirees Association (KSURA), an organization of more than 800 retired ����Ӱҵ faculty and staff committed to improving university life.

����Ӱҵ University Senior Vice President and Provost Melody Tankersley, Ph.D., announced the selection of Manfred van Dulmen, Ph.D., to serve as the university’s associate provost for academic affairs and dean of the Division of Graduate Studies, effective April 16.

What do friendship, academics and T-shirts have in common? For the students at the American Academy, ����Ӱҵ University and the PUCPR’s undergraduate program in Brazil, a student-led T-shirt design contest created that missing piece of camaraderie during the pandemic between students and their two schools.

As ����Ӱҵ Geauga embarks upon two facility improvements for the Geauga Campus in Burton, the leadership is pleased to announce an initial gift to the project from Preston Superstore and the Preston Family. ����Ӱҵcampus improvements will include constructing a new nursing lab and instructional space and a new student learning commons, helping ����Ӱҵ Geauga meet existing and future students' needs while growing programs.

Turning Blue, a short film by ����Ӱҵ's School of Media and Journalism faculty filmmakers Dana White and Christopher Knoblock, will be featured at the prestigious 45th annual Cleveland International Film Festival.

As president of his fraternity and chief risk officer of the Golden Flash Asset Management Group (GFAM), senior finance major Cameran Cunningham has made the most out of his experience at ����Ӱҵ and is already set to begin his career in finance.

U.S. News & World Report ranks ����Ӱҵ University in the top 20 Best Library and Information Studies Programs in the country in its 2022 edition of Best Graduate Schools. Overall, ����Ӱҵ is recognized in 12 new national rankings in the 2022 edition of Best Graduate Schools, including three specialty rankings.

����Ӱҵ University at Geauga doubled its video conferencing rooms, also known as “Zoom Rooms,” before the fall semester due to the demands of the COVID-19 pandemic. ����ӰҵZoom Rooms are designed to serve various purposes and room configurations for faculty and students, and they were recently featured in an article by EdTech.

����Ӱҵ University's School of Theatre and Dance is ranked #50 on Study.com's list of Best Theatre Bachelor's Degree programs in the United States. In addition to this national ranking, the School of Theatre and Dance is one of only two theatre programs from the state of Ohio on the list. In its rankings, Study.com assesses hundreds of universities across the country and selected ����Ӱҵ University based on academic and career resources, the quality of education, faculty, and more. 

Daymond John, founder/CEO of FUBU, presidential ambassador for Global Entrepreneurship, star of ABC’s Shark Tank and CEO of ����ӰҵShark Group, will speak at the Better Business Bureau of Akron’s 101 Year Anniversary celebration, BBB Anniversary Summit, on Thursday, April 8, 2021 in collaboration with the ����Ӱҵ College of Business Administration’s Michael D. Solomon Entrepreneurship Speaker Series.

����Ӱҵ University has partnered with Greater Akron community organizations to conduct the first comprehensive and specific LGBTQ+ Community Needs Assessment (CNA). Efforts of this assessment focus on producing a better-informed public health system and improving the health and well-being of the LGBTQ+ community members.

At ����Ӱҵ , Golden Flashes are known to take care of other Golden Flashes. With the pandemic looming over the school year, more than 100 ����Ӱҵ faculty, staff and administrators checked in on first-year students over the phone last November to talk about their well-being and pathways for success during their first semester.

More than 2,000 area residents, including some ����Ӱҵ University employees, received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine March 23, during a mass vaccination event at the ����Ӱҵ Field House. 

You may have heard it said, “when hard times come, notice those who remain, and the ones who disappear.” Nursing instructors are in a position to see this scenario playing out in the lives of their students at ����Ӱҵ University at Geauga and the Twinsburg Academic Center.

City and university leaders emphasized the need to vaccinate the campus community during a recent virtual town hall meeting. 

����Ӱҵ has joined the Culture of Respect Collective, a two-year initiative offered through the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA), to help end sexual violence on campus.

From April 5 to May 15, visitors to the ����Ӱҵ University campus will encounter a new, outdoor public art exhibition that stretches along the Lefton Esplanade between downtown Kent and the University Library. “Import/Export” addresses the imbalances and inequalities of global import/export systems. Artists from around the world were chosen based on how their works reflect the impact of these systems on their local spaces.
