����Ӱҵ University graduate and award-winning photojournalist Matthew Thayer has spent the past 43 years in Hawaii, working as a photojournalist for ����ӰҵMaui News newspaper. When Thayer was sent out to cover horse evacuations from the upcountry fires on Maui on Aug. 8, he never expected he would end up covering one of the worst natural disasters in Hawaii’s history.

����Ӱҵ's Summer Commencement ceremonies took place on Manchester Field last Saturday. 

President Todd Diacon welcomed the Class of 2027 during a colorful and festive Convocation celebration, encouraging students to embrace the spirit of the university’s core values. A relatively new tradition on the Kent Campus, Convocation not only serves to get students excited for the start of their academic careers at ����Ӱҵ but also to introduce the students to the deans and faculty for each of the university’s colleges.

Senior Delonte Goodman spent the summer working under the direction of mentor Tony Jakli, Ph.D., professor at the Liquid Crystal Institute and graduate student Alex Adaka conducting dielectric measurements for ferronematic liquid crystals.

A scholarship funded through the ����Ӱҵ University Hotel and Conference Center benefits students in ����Ӱҵ's Hospitality Management program. 

With a specific focus on depressed and non-depressed parental groups, the study led by Sara Black, Ph.D., in the Department of Psychological Sciences, seeks to understand how parental depressive symptoms may influence parent-child interaction and the subsequent effects on child development and emotional well-being. 

����Ӱҵ Associate Professor Mei-Chen Lin and her collaborators get funding from the National Communication Association to explore how virtual reality can influence interpersonal communication and intercultural relationships.

For more than a century, " ����ӰҵRock" on the Kent Campus has been a colorful canvas expressing the changing moods of the community.

����Ӱҵ����Ӱҵ University alumni family grew by nearly 1,200 new graduates as the university held its summer commencement ceremonies. ����Ӱҵaccomplishments of the Summer Class of 2023 were recognized with outdoor commencement ceremonies on Aug. 19.

����Ӱҵ has been recognized for the 15th consecutive year with the Tree Campus Higher Education recognition (previously called the Tree Campus USA designation).
